    ILO International Training Centre - The Turin Seminar & Study Tour - September, 2006- Chiang Mai

    "This Seminar has become an important event for BDS practitioners around the world, attracting participants from a vast range of countries. All are engaged in designing and implementing projects to support small enterprise development and all share a keen interest in new ideas and approaches that may increase effectiveness. As well as finding the many presentations interesting, participants seem to find particular value in networking during the breaks, and many continue their discussions by e-mail long after the Seminar ends."     Commonwealth Business Council

    Established by the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 1997, the CBC acts as a bridge for co-operation between business and government, helping remove barriers to trade, mobilising investment into Commonwealth countries, fostering a good environment for business and investment, promoting good practice in corporate governance and corporate citizenship, and facilitating the engagement of the private sector in information communication technology for development (ICT4D) initiatives.

    Committee of Donor Agencies' Working Group on Small Enterprise Development

    The Committee "promotes enterprise development, particularly for small enterprises, in developing countries. It provides a forum, in which member agencies can exchange information about their programmes, and the lessons learned through those programmes. Building on experience, the Committee publishes common guidelines for member agencies." Site contains documents on assessing impacts of enabling environment programmes.


    USAID Accelerated Microfinance Advancement Project

    Under USAID's Accelerated Microenterprise Advancement Project (AMAP), work is being done to develop and test impact assessment methodologies appropriate for the new generation of private sector development (PSD) projects being promoted by USAID and other donors to improve competitiveness, accelerate economic growth, and reduce poverty. The Microlinks website outlines other AMAP areas of research.
